Ctg landslides: 185 families evicted for their own good from foothills

A total of 185 families have been evicted from different foothills in Chattogram city on Sunday during a drive against illegal and risky residents amid landslide concern.

Five teams led by district executive magistrates with police Ansar and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members started the drive at 10:30 am from East Firozshah Jhil-1 area under Akbar Shah police station

During the drive, 300 residential settlements were marked as risky.

Judicial Magistrate Manisha Mahajan and Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nellie were present on behalf of the City Corporation in the operation.

The operation was conducted on behalf of the district administration by Executive Magistrate Umar Farooq, AC (Land)of Kattali, Executive Magistrate Masud Rana, AC (Land)of  Chandgaon and Executive Magistrate Al Amin Sarkar, AC (Land)of Agrabad Circle.

On Saturday, landslides triggered by heavy rain at Barishal Ghona are under Akbar Shah police station, and at Bijainagar area at Foy's Lake left four people killed and several injured.
