Three killed in Rajbari road accident

Three people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on the Daulatdia-Kushtia Regional Highway in front of the Technical Training Center in Alipur union under Sadar upazila of the district on Friday (2 August).

The deceased were identified as truck helper Shakib, 22, son of Emarul Islam under Sadar upazila of Kushtia district, BM Nazimuddin, 50, resident of Basantapur union of Rajbari Sadar upazila and identity of another person could not be known immediately.                                                                                      

The accident occurred in the area when a passenger bus was going to Faridpur from Kushtia. On the way, it collided head-on with a cement-laden truck coming from the opposite direction in the morning. The truck fell into a ditch on the side of the road and the bus hit a shop, leaving six passengers injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ahladipur Highway Police Station Abdul Halim said.

The injured passengers were taken to Rajbari Sadar Hospital, where two of them died while undergoing treatment, he said.

The seriously injured Nazimuddin was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. Later, he was sent to Dhaka but he died on the way.

Police seized the bus and truck from the spot, the OC added.
