Detective Branch (DB) of police in Jashore has arrested nine members of a teenage gang along with a large number of arms and ammunition while they were preparing for a robbery operation.
They were arrested from the south side of Raipara Railway Station’s pond in Jessore city on Saturday (March 2).
A total of 11 local arms of different kinds were recovered from their possession, according to a press release of Jashore District DB Police.
The arrestees were identified as Kapil Chandra Saha Chayan (29), Amin (44), son of late Zafar Haldar of Kadamtala area, Imon Molla (19), son of Tulu Molla of Bejpara Ansar camp area, Oyon (19), son of Masim Sheikh of Shankarpur Golpata Masjid area, Munna Islam Sagar (21), son of Biul Islam of Barandi Kadamtala area, Hasibur Rahman Ratul (19), son of Hafizur Rahman Happy of Murli Jora Mandir area, Rafidul Islam Rohan (19), son of late Shariful Islam of Kazipara Golampatti, Nayan Sheikh (19), son of Nahid Sheikh of Shikarpur of Sharsha upazila, and Rifatul Islam Niva (19), son of late Nazrul Islam of Bankra area of Jhikargacha upazila.
The arrestees are involved in various criminal activities including robbery, theft, hijacking, and drug dealing, said the release.
The drive was carried out based on secret information, it said.
SI Nur Islam filed two separate cases with Kotwali Model Police Station in this regard.
