A Dhaka court on Monday (1 April) placed four people on a three-day remand each in a case filed for gang-raping a young woman who was kept chained in a house in the capital's Mohammadpur.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order when Mohammadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector Farukul Islam, also the case investigation officer, produced the accused before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.

The court also directed the investigating officer to ensure that the names of all those involved in this incident are included in the charge sheet.

Those who remanded were identified as Saan, Himel, Rocky, and Salma alias Jhumur.

The victim was gang-raped for 25 days after being kept chained in a house in Dhaka's Mohammadpur.

A case was filed at Mohammadpur Police Station on Sunday night following a complaint lodged by the victim, alleging rape and video recording of the rape while being held captive in a house in Nobinagar Housing.

Later, police conducted operations throughout the night and arrested them, said Police's Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner (DC), HM Azimul Haque.

Earlier on March 29, police rescued the young woman upon receiving a call through national emergency service number 999 while she was still chained, he added.
