DIU hosts seminar on Powering the Future

A seminar titled "Powering the Future: Overcoming the Energy Crisis with Sustainable Solutions," was organized as the part of the assignment for the course Bangladesh Studies: Socio-Economic Perspective under the guidance of course teacher Prof. Dr. Syed Mizanur Rahman.  The seminar focused on important discussions on sustainable solutions and the energy crisis and Active participation of students in energy-related sustainable development goals.

The seminar was held on Saturday (25  May) at 2.00pm at International Conference Hall of Daffodil International University at Daffodil Smart City at Birulia, Savar. Dhaka. In the seminar a total of 400 students including 150 students from 25 public and private universities joined and shared their valuable opinions.

Professor Dr. M. Shamsul Alam, Energy Advisor to Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) was present as the chief guest at the seminar while Professor Dr. Md. Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship presided over the seminar. The seminar was also addressed by course teacher Professor Dr. Syed Mizanur Rahman.

Addressing as the chief guest Professor Dr. M Shamsul Alam said, to ensure energy security, domestic sources should be given importance and the use of renewable sources or domestic sources should be encouraged. He also said, to deal with the electricity crisis in the future, more emphasis should be placed on the construction of solar plants and it is possible to produce enough electricity by using the rooftops of every private and public university. He called for prevention of wastage and corruption in electricity sector through energy audit as like financial audit.
