Students of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) blocked the Dhaka-Pabna highway for around four hours demanding quota reform. That incident caused a long traffic jam of about ten kilometres on both sides of the Dhaka-Pabna highway.

On Wednesday (July 10), the students first took out a protest march from the Independence Square of the university. The protest march ended at the Dhaka-Pabna highway.

After that, students started protesting by occupying the highway The students protested by blocking the highway till 2:30 in the afternoon. A group of students were seen playing cricket and football when the road was empty.

Meanwhile, due to the blockade of the highway, long traffic jams are created, in which the common people suffer. Abdur Rahman, a passenger going to Dhaka in the morning, said, 'I will go to Dhaka, I have been stuck here for a long time in the traffic jam. We also support the students' movement. But we are in trouble. So the government should solve this problem quickly and free people from suffering.'

Another passenger, Sharifa Khatun, said, 'I have been staying here for almost one and a half hours. The cars are not moving forward, I cannot go even though there is an urgent task.'

Tawhid Rahman, one of the coordinators of the PUST quota movement said, 'This movement of ours is the movement of all general students, we are protesting here for the rights of general students. It is true that the common people are suffering due to the movement but we have no other choice.'
