Jagannath University's Law Department, Abdul Sobhan, a student of the 2021-22 academic year was released after 21 hours in police custody . On Thursday (1 August), at 1 pm ,he was released from the police custody .
Earlier,he was detained during the anti-discrimination student movement's' March for Justice 'program in front of Lakshmipur George Court at 4pm on Wednesday.
Abdul Razzak, Sobhan's elder brother, said: " police told us last night that they would leave him in the morning. We came at this morning. Later, after completing the paperwork, my brother was released on bond.The university administration has been very supportive.
Dr.Masum Billah,Chairman of the Law Department , said that the law department and the university administration were actively in touch with the police regarding Sobhan's arrest. And we were able to legally release him without any charges. The law department will be with the students in any danger and problems.
Prof Dr Jahangir Hossain, proctor of the university, said: "As soon as we received the information about the arrest of the student, we contacted the police station OC and SP. I told to leave him in the morning. We're sure he's free. His father took him home from the police station.
