The Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to award the ‘Prime Minister's Gold Medal’ 2019 to a total of 178 students, the best from the country's 37 government and non-government universities.
These students, who have achieved the highest marks or CGPA in undergraduate and postgraduate exams in various departments of these universities, receive this prestigious gold medal. The list of selected students was initially published on the UGC website.
Among them, 11 students from Dhaka University (DU) have been nominated for the Prime Minister's Gold Medal for their outstanding results in undergraduate and postgraduate exams.
The students selected from Dhaka University for the Prime Minister's Gold Medal are as follows:
Mohiuddin from the Arabic Department (GPA: 3.96), Md. Muddassir Hossain Akib from the Department of Statistics (GPA: 3.99),Abdur Rahman Mojumdar from the Law Department (GPA: 3.82), Akidur Rahman from the Department of Accounting and Information Systems (GPA: 3.93),Faria Tasnim from the Pharmacy Department (GPA: 3.97),Sheikh Atiya Islam from the Economics Department (GPA: 3.99), Swapnil Sayan Shah from the EEE Department (GPA: 3.94),Jerin Tasnim from the Department of Oceanography (GPA: 3.95), Shayan Shahriar from the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology (GPA: 4.00),Ishita Sharmin Sayma from the History of Art Department (GPA: 3.72),Deblina Sarkar Medha from the Department of Medicine (1332/1500).
In order to encourage and promote the academic development and excellence of students in the country's universities, the UGC introduced the Prime Minister's Gold Medal in 2005.
