Jovan has faced intense scrutiny on social media for his role in the drama ‘Rupantor’ (Transformation), released during Eid. Viewers accused the drama of promoting transgender ideology, leading to significant backlash against Jovan, with calls for boycotting him. Consequently, he has decided to avoid such roles in the future.

Criticism mounted swiftly upon the drama's YouTube release, with numerous posts and millions of reactions lambasting the play. As a result of the severe backlash, the drama was pulled from YouTube. The character portrayed by Jovan was particularly targeted with allegations of misrepresentation, adversely affecting his other projects.

Addressing the issue, Jovan expressed bewilderment, saying, “I don't understand the criticism surrounding the drama. Despite garnering 90,000 views, it seems most viewers haven't actually watched it. I'm perplexed by the situation and unsure of its origins.”

Jovan has also been subject to boycott calls for his involvement in the drama. He perceives such behaviour as intentional, emphasizing, “It appears deliberate; personal attacks are escalating instead of constructive discussions on the subject matter.”

Despite the online criticism, Jovan has resolved not to undertake roles disapproved of by the audience. He affirmed, “If people dislike it, I can't continue. Henceforth, I'll abstain from such roles.”

Asked for a message to netizens and followers, Jovan announced, “I plan to issue a statement to convey my thoughts.”

"Rupantor" premiered on YouTube at 7 pm on April 15. Directed by Rafat Majumdar Ringku, the drama portrays the struggles of an individual battling loneliness due to hormonal imbalances. Alongside Jovan, Samira Khan Mahi, Saberi Alam, and Samapti Masuk also featured in the production.
