Acclaimed Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon is set to make her debut in the Indian Bengali film industry, popularly known as Tollywood. Badhon will be starring in one of the stories in the upcoming anthology film 'Fair and Ugly' directed by Prasenjit Biswas.
According to Indian media reports, ‘Fair and Ugly’ comprises five different stories. The makers have already completed shooting for a few segments, featuring actors like Parno Mitro, Samrat, Rituparna Sengupta, Kaushik Sen, and Sayantani, among others. Now, the director is gearing up to shoot Badhon's portion of the film.
While Badhon acknowledged her involvement in the project to the media, she refrained from making any detailed comments at this stage. She requested some more time before revealing further information, saying that she would share insights once she completes her full preparation and gets ready to start working.
Reports suggest that Badhon's shooting for the film is expected to commence around mid-May. She will be joined by Sakib Ayub, who has previously worked in Bollywood films like 'Farzi' and 'Brahmastra'.
Badhon's journey in the entertainment industry has been remarkable. In 2021, her film 'Rehana Maryam Noor,' directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad, became the first Bangladeshi movie to be officially selected in the 'Un Certain Regard' section of the 74th Cannes Film Festival. Badhon's performance in the lead role garnered widespread acclaim from global cinephiles.
The same year, Badhon portrayed a mysterious woman's character in the Indian OTT series ‘Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni’, directed by Srijit Mukherji. Her acting prowess was highly praised in both Bengal regions.
In 2022, Badhon made her Bollywood debut with the film 'Khufiya,' directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, where she shared the screen with Tabu, although her screen time was limited.
Badhon's upcoming Tollywood project marks another significant milestone in her illustrious career, further expanding her reach and showcasing her versatility as an actor across different film industries.
