AL leaders, activists at grassroots are party’s key power: AFM Bahauddin Nasim

Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim yesterday said the party-AL will be made more dynamic and united at grassroots level as AL`s grassroots level leaders and activists are the key power of it.

"Awami League is a big party and the AL`s grassroots level leaders and activist are the party's key power," he told a triennial council as the chief guest organized by Dhaka City South Unit of Awami League wards No-65 at Matuail in the capital.

He said a vested quarter has been conspiring against the government's development activities and that's why Awami League should be more united to protest the enemy of the country.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is spreading falsehood against the government as BNP leaders want to destroy the democracy of the country which is a bad habit, he added.

He said the main strength of BNP is to cause loss of life and property through fire and terrorism as BNP has announced destructive programmes ahead of the birthday of Father of the Nation that falls on March 17.

He also said the election commission will be formed according to the constitution and AL will welcome it.

Earlier, President of Dhaka South City Awami League and valiant freedom fighter Abu Ahmed Mannafi inaugurated the council while Dhaka South City AL General Secretary Humayun Kabir attended it as key note speaker. Kazi Monirul Islam Monu, MP, was also present there. Vice president of Dhaka South City Unit AL Mesbah-Ur Rahman Bhuiyan Ratan, Sharfuddin Ahmed Shantu and organizing secretary Golam Sarwar Kabir, among others, were present in the council.

With Matuail Union AL`s President and valiant freedom fighter Lutfor Rahman Khan in the chair, the event was conducted by Matuail Union AL General Secretary Shanto Nur Khan.
