During the Eid holiday from April 9 to 13, a total of 146,553 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge in 5 days. A total of Tk 146,052,700 in toll was collected at the Mawa and Zajira ends of the bridge.
According to the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, 30,330 vehicles crossed the bridge from the Mawa end on April 9, 17,505 on April 10, 11,194 on April 11, 15,883 on April 12, and 12,896 on April 13. A total of Tk 78,718,550 in toll was collected from the Mawa end during these 5 days.
On the other hand, from the Zajira end, 14,874 vehicles crossed on April 9, 8,510 on April 10, 7,465 on April 11, 12,100 on April 12, and 15,596 on April 13, totaling 58,545 vehicles in 5 days. A total of Tk 67,734,150 in toll was collected from the Zajira end.
Amirul Haider Chowdhury, additional director of the Padma Bridge Authority, confirmed the information and said that during this Eid journey from April 9 to 13, over Tk 14 crore in toll was collected at the 14 booths of the two toll plazas at the two ends of the bridge.
He further said that in these 5 days, 146,553 vehicles crossed the bridge, and a total of Tk 146,052,700 in toll was collected at the Mawa and Zajira ends.
However, although the number of vehicles and toll collection was lower compared to last year, this year, a record Tk 489,947,700 in toll was collected before Eid, which is the highest so far.
The bridge authority informed that after the inauguration of the Padma Bridge on June 25, 2022, it was opened for vehicular movement the next day on June 26. On that day, 51,316 vehicles crossed the bridge, which is the highest number of vehicles crossing the bridge so far.
According to the bridge department, the number of vehicles crossing the Padma Bridge during this Eid was lower compared to last year. Consequently, the toll collection amount also decreased. During last Eid-ul-Fitr from April 20 to 24, 163,778 vehicles crossed, and Tk 146,166,550 in toll was collected. This year, 17,225 fewer vehicles crossed, and the toll collection was Tk 113,850 less compared to last year.
On the other hand, the total toll collected on the Padma Bridge so far is Tk 1,466,160,300, and a total of 109,919,937 vehicles have crossed the bridge.
