Fire breaks out at Dhaka Shishu Hospital

A fire broke out in the cardiac ward of Dhaka Shishu Hospital in the capital’s Agargaon area on Friday (19 April) afternoon, the fire service said.

It was not immediately known if there were any casualties.

Talha Bin Zasim, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell, said the fire originated in the cardiac ward on the fourth floor of the hospital around 1:47 pm.

On information, three firefighting units from Mohammadpur station rushed to the spot and were trying to bring the flames under control, he said.

Two more units from Siddique Bazar and Tejgaon stations were on the way to the spot, the station officer said.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately, he added.
