2 workers killed in Cox’s Bazar lightning strike

In a tragic turn of events early Thursday , two workers were fatally struck by lightning in separate incidents at Chhari Para, Pekua upazila. The incidents occurred amid early morning activities in the local salt fields.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Didarul Islam, son of Jamir, and 25-year-old Md Arman, son of Jamal, both residents of the upazila.

Yunus Chowdhury, chairman of Magnama union, reported that Didarul Islam was struck and killed instantly by lightning while working in the Kodailladiya salt field.

In a similar misfortune, Md Arman was working in the salt field, attempting to mitigate the damage caused by recent rains, when he too was struck by lightning and died instantly. Nazrul Islam Shikdar, chairman of Rajakhali union, shared details of the incident.
