The French Embassy in Dhaka has extended condolences to the families of the victims of cyclone Remal which battered the country’s coastal districts on Sunday night.
"Our thoughts are with all affected communities and families, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery following the disaster which has since displaced households, submerged structures and washed away crops in most of the southern parts of Bangladesh, the Embassy said on Wednesday (29 May).
Ten people were killed in Khulna, Satkhira, Barishal, Patuakhali, Bhola and Chattogram districts when cyclone Remal struck Bangladesh's coastal area.
Besides, 1,50,457 houses were damaged during the storm. Of these, 35,483 houses were fully damaged in 107 unions and 914 municipalities.
