Human Concern International (HCI) delegation came to Bangladesh on March 5 and they will  in Bangladesh till March 16. This visit is part of HCI’s commitment to understanding opportunities for sustainable development both with the local community and Rohingya refugee population in Bangladesh. HCI has been providing humanitarian assistance to Bangladesh for over 30 years and has a long history of working with local partners to deliver projects.

The delegation is led by the Executive Director of HCI, Mrs. Mahmuda Khan, and includes experienced professionals in international development, government relations, humanitarian projects, youth empowerment and technology experts. This unique opportunity has allowed the delegation to gain firsthand experience with and knowledge of existing opportunities for sustainable development initiatives in Bangladesh and the Rohingya population.

On this trip, the delegation has seen HCI's work with Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, as well as the slums where HCI sponsors at-risk Bangladeshi children, water projects the organization has installed, and the island village of Susuar Char in Bhuapur Upazilla, Tangail region, which lacks access to basic services due to its remote location and is threatened by riverbank erosion.

The delegation’s goal is to identify potential opportunities for sustainable development initiatives that are both culturally and economically viable in the local communities. After returning back to Canada, HCI will also be looking for ways to support existing and new Rohingya initiatives, as well as explore additional opportunities for HCI’s long-term humanitarian projects within Bangladesh.
