Banga Bazar fire under control after 7 hours

After six and a half hours, the fire in Banga Bazar market was brought under control. Shahjahan Shikder, media wing officer of fire service, informed that the fire was brought under control at 12:36 pm on Tuesday (4 April).

Although the fire service said to bring the fire under control, the fire was seen blazing in different places. Most of the shops in Banga Market were burnt to ashes.

Businessmen say that at least six markets in Banga Bazar caught fire. Only Banga Market has 2900 shops and about one and a half lakh people work there.

Banga Bazar Market, Islamia Market, Banga 10 Crore Market, Adarsha Market - these four markets are in one place. Basically people call all of them as Bangabazar Market. On the opposite side of the road, the fire also spread to Annex Tower and Bongo Homeo Market.

Traders believe that more than 12,000 shops have been burnt in this fire on Tuesday. As a result, they fear that they will face a loss of thousands of crores.

Meanwhile, 5th to 7th floor of Banga-Bazar's Annex Tower was burnt. There are about 115 shops on every floor.

Meanwhile, eight people including three members of the fire service were injured in the fire incident and came to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. They are being treated in the emergency department.

Earlier on Tuesday dawn several markets of Banga Bazar were on fire, approximately 5:30 am.
