A fast lane facility has been established on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Highway (Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway) on Tuesday (18 April). From now on, due to the establishment of the digital process, vehicles do not have to be stuck in toll plazas.

Automatic toll collection from vehicles is being done on one lane each at Dhaleswari Bridge and Bhanga Toll Plaza from Tuesday evening. This toll is being deducted through mobile banking services.

Road Transport and Highways Division said that a vehicle can cross the toll plaza quickly with this facility at a 10 percent discount through the Upay App.

Road Transport and Highways Division also said, “The information of all vehicles registered from BRTA is kept in the Fast Track system. Sensors have been placed in designated lanes for fast track. When a vehicle passes by, the sensor will identify the type of vehicle-based on the vehicle's digital number plate. Accordingly, the fixed toll amount will be automatically deducted.”

Besides, if the RFID card is attached to the windshield of the vehicle, the toll rate is also detected and deducted. In this case, there must be sufficient funds in the mobile banking system and if there is not enough money in the mobile account, the toll plaza barrier will not be raised.

Meghna and Meghna Gomti bridges in the country have separate lanes for toll collection through this digital process.
