The stock market has been continuously falling for a long time. A few days after the withdrawal of the floor price, a positive trend was seen in the stock market. But since then, it is gradually getting worse than before.
In the past two months, the number of beneficial owners (BOs) in the stock market has decreased by 43,340. On the other hand, the number of BO accounts with no shares has increased by 50,977.
According to the data of Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), the number of shareholder BO accounts on January 21 was 14,05,763, which decreased to 13,62,423 on March 25. And on January 21, the number of zero BO accounts without shares was 2,98,402. On March 25, it increased to 3,49,379.
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) withdrew the floor price of all companies except 35 on January 18 this year. After that, the floor price of 29 companies was withdrawn in two more rounds. At present the floor price remains above 6. After the implementation of this order, the number of shareholder BO accounts has basically started to decrease.
However, the total number of BO accounts increased by 10,224 in a span of two months. Most of which are non-shared BO accounts. According to CDBL data, the total number of BO accounts on January 21 was 17,77,071. On March 25, it stood at 17,87,295.
The number of male BO account holders was 13,29,646 on January 21, which stood at 13,38,012 on March 25. Accordingly, the number of male BO account holders increased by 8,366. On the other hand, the number of women BO account holders increased by 1,612. On January 21, the number of women BO account holders in the stock market was 4,30,252, which stood at 4,31,864 at the end of March 25.
On March 25, the number of individual BO account holders stood at 12,55,237, which was 12,45,874 on January 21. And on March 25, the combined BO account stood at 5,14,639, which was 5,14,024 on January 21.
