DSE investors’ capital falls by Tk 6,764 crore

Another week of the capital market ended with a one-day rise and four-day fall in share prices, with investors’ capital on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreasing by Tk 6,764 crore.

In the fourth week of April, the index also fell as the share prices of most of the companies went down. Although the index fell, the volume of transactions increased last week.

According to DSE data, in the last week, the share prices of 327 companies fell against the increase in the prices of 57 companies. The share prices of 10 companies were unchanged during this period. The capital of the investors fell by Tk 6,764 crore to Tk 6,99,561 crore at the end of the week. Investors’ capital at the start of the week was Tk 7,06,325 crore.

Most of the company's share prices also fell as selling pressure was more than buying. As a result, last week, among the three indices of DSE, the main index DSEX decreased by 168 points and stood at 5,686 points. Among the other two indices, the DS-30 index fell by 10 points to 1,984 points and the DSES Shariah index fell by 29 points to 1,246 points.

Last week, Tk 2,764.9 crore of DSE investors was traded. The average transaction was Tk 552.98 crore. Tk 19,12.81 crore was traded in the previous week and Tk 4,78.20 crore was daily transactions. That is, the average transaction per working day increased by Tk 74 crore 78 lakh or 15.64 per cent.
Shares of Asiatic Laboratories were traded the most in terms of taka on DSE during last week. The daily average transactions were Tk 31 crore 27 lakh, which was 5.66 per cent of the total transactions. 

Shares of Orion Infusion, which ranked second, traded at a daily average of Tk 26.26 crore. Lovello Ice Cream was in third place with transactions of Tk 25 crore.
Besides, the list of top 10 traded companies includes Golden Son, Alif Industries, Best Holding, Malek Spinning, Salvo Chemicals, Kohinoor Chemical, and Beach Hatchery.

Among the 307 companies traded on Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the other bourse of the country, last week, the prices of 45 increased, 247 decreased, and 15 were unchanged. Tk 815,734,387 was transacted for buying and selling the shares of 307 companies. Tk 485,925,234 was transacted in the previous week.

CSE's main index CASPI fell by 429 points to 16,244 points as shares of most of the traded companies fell. Investors' capital on CSE fell by Tk 3,629 crore to Tk 732,988.72 crore as the index fell. In the previous week, CSE’s capital was Tk 736,618.16 crore.
