A discussion meeting was held on Saturday (25 May) with the Branch Managers and Operations Managers of Dhaka North and South Regions along with the Corporate Branches of Dhaka. The meeting was held at a renowned convention center in Dhaka.
Alhaj Khalilur Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NBL attended the chief guest while Professor Md Helal Uddin Nizami, Vice Chairman, Lieutenant General Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Osp (Bar), Spp, Afwc, Psc (Retd), Director; ABM Zahurul Huda, Independent Director and Md Reazul Karim FCMA, Director also attended the meeting. Moazzam Hossain, Sponsor Director, Professor A.K.M Tafzal Haque, Director and Dr. Ratna Dutta FCA, Independent Director also joined the meeting virtually. The meeting was also attended by Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, Managing Director & CEO along with Deputy Managing Director namely, Syed Rois Uddin, Sheikh Akhter Uddin Ahmed, Imran Ahmed and Md Abdul Matin.
Alhaj Khalilur Rahman, the Chairman addressed the meeting, highlighting the illustrious history of the National Bank. He emphasized the collective effort required from everyone to restore the bank to its former glory.
Acknowledging the recent success of the special campaign by the branches, he underscored the potential for revitalization, if concerted efforts continue. The Board of Directors pledged their full support, assuring that NBL would soon overcome its challenges.
The Chairman also urged officials to vigorously pursue the recovery of defaulted loans, emphasizing that no leniency would be shown to defaulters. He advocated for prioritizing support to medium and small businesses to ensure profitability for depositors. Special attention was placed on loan recovery and expediting ongoing cases.
Furthermore, he outlined objectives for 2024, including business expansion, enhancing customer service quality, and tackling classified loans. The Chairman stressed the importance of strategic planning to reclaim the bank's esteemed reputation.
The meeting also delved into comprehensive discussions on overall bank growth, business activities, and strategic policy formulation. Attendees included Branch and Operations Managers of Dhaka North and South Region along with Regional Heads and Corporate Branches.
