Until last October, the country produced more than 8.37 million kilograms of tea compared to the same period in the previous year. This information was revealed in the monthly tea bulletin published by the Tea Board on November 28.

According to the Tea Board, the country produced 8 crore 35 lakh 83 thousand kilograms of tea until last October. In the previous year (2022), tea production in the country had reached 7 crore 5 lakh 11 thousand kilograms until October.

Tea Board sources state that the target for tea production in the country during the current tea production season has been set at 102 million kilograms, i.e., 10 crore 20 lakh kilograms. Until October 30 of the current year, 837.2 million kilograms, i.e., 83 lakh 72 thousand kilograms more tea has been produced compared to the same period in the previous year. According to sources, if the production of 1 crore 84 lakh 17 thousand kilograms of tea can be achieved in the two months of November-December, the target will be achieved.

It is estimated that in the current monsoon season, the target for tea production will be exceeded, setting a new record in the history of the country's tea industry in 169 years. It is easily assumed from the current production that Bangladesh is on the path to a new record in tea production.

According to Bangladesh Tea Board sources, a comprehensive plan called the "Development Path of the Tea Industry in Bangladesh" has been formulated for the development of the tea industry. Through this, the current government is working to increase tea production to 140 million kilograms by the year 2025.
