In Chilmari Upazila of Kurigram district, bull farming has emerged as a lucrative venture, particularly among young entrepreneurs, fueled by the inspiring success story of Shamim Rana (25) from Hajipara area of Ramna Union.

Shamim's journey from a modest start to a thriving enterprise serves as an inspiration for many in the region.

Shamim, a resident of Hajipara in Ramna Union, began his venture with a modest investment of Tk 40,000, alongside his educational expenses. With astute management, he gradually expanded his business, selling his initial cow for Tk 55,500. Undeterred by challenges, he reinvested his profits, steadily increasing his herd. Today, he stands as a self-sufficient farmer, having transformed his earnings from tuition into a successful bull farming operation.

Visiting Shamim's farm reveals a carefully crafted setup, with meticulously divided sheds within his yard. Having invested approximately Tk 1 lakh in infrastructure, his farm now hosts a total of 9 cows, comprising both local and foreign breeds. Besides dairy farming, Shamim ensures a steady supply of fodder by cultivating napier grass on his land.

Shamim's dedication to natural methods of cattle rearing has garnered attention, with his farm being hailed as a model enterprise. Local residents, inspired by his success, are eager to follow suit, with many considering venturing into bull farming themselves.

Zahrul Islam, a resident of the area, commended Shamim's farming acumen, noting the positive impact on the community. "Shamim's success is a testament to the potential of bull farming as a lucrative venture," he remarked, expressing his intent to seek financial assistance to embark on a similar path.

Reflecting on his journey, Shamim expressed gratitude for the opportunity to pursue his entrepreneurial aspirations. "I wanted to take control of my destiny," he stated. Despite facing challenges such as rising costs of feed, Shamim remains optimistic about the future, emphasizing the need for government support and further training to sustain and expand his farm.

In an era marked by economic uncertainty, Shamim's story stands as a beacon of hope, highlighting the transformative power of determination and innovation in rural entrepreneurship.
