Gypsy community live miserable lives demand cluster village for them

People of gypsy community (Bedhe) families have been compelled to live in sub-human condition and uncertain future in scattered way due to want of attention of the government, and local administration, to rehabilitation them for for years.

There are over 10 thousands gypsy family members have been living in southern parts of the country for years. Most of the members of gypsy families lives in southern districts including Barishal, Patuakhali, Bhola, Bagherhat, Shathkhria, Chandpur, and Laxmipur are living in boat with family members.

Summer even in rainy season whole time of the year when the river swell in full bream they have been living in boat with high life risk.

Some times during rough weather in rainy seasion they took shelter in river the bank cannels. But now a days the most of the channel lost their connection with river because of dumping of C C blocks in the river bank for check erosion and protection of river bank.

During a visit in the river bank of Meghna near Tulatoli fish ghat area of Bhola sadar it found that the gypsy family members set nets in the river Meghna to catching fish which are only the source to their livelihood.

Fishing is only the means of their earning sources to survive and maintain their family. At the time one Rokia a women said all of them were not registered and issued them national identification card. So they are not getting rice sanction for fishermen during fishing ban time.

The gypsy men sarder told this correspondent that they demand to Hon'ble prime minister Sheikh to rehabilitate them in Cluster villages. And recognized them and issued them NID.

Besides this huge gypsy families of Manikgonj and Munshigonj district live on temporary makeshifts made different roads side of the country. They migrated from one area to another especially during the dry Season and saves their earning for future.

Sometimes they begging for their livelijood. It is also observed that huge gypsy families come in Bhola sadar and Borhan Uddin upazila every dry season.
