Fines of four institutions including two clinics in Narayanganj

Four companies have been fined in a raid by the National Consumer Protection Directorate. The operation was conducted in Khanpur, Kalibazar Charargop and Nitaiganj areas of the city on Wednesday (March 20) from noon to afternoon.

At this time, Medi Aid Diagnostic Center in Khanpur, Al Hera General Hospital, M/s Ajmeri Bhandar Fruit Factory in Kalirbazar and Arshibad Oil Mill in Nitaiganj were fined 1 lakh 40 thousand BDTs.

The campaign was led by Md. Selimuzzaman, Executive Director of Narayanganj Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection. Market Officer Sumon Khandkar and Cab Joint Secretary Billal Hossain Robin were present.

Selimuzzaman said, 50 thousand taka to Medi Aid Diagnostic Center under section 39 and 51 of Consumer Rights Protection Act for the crime of having expired re-agent and service price list, 40 thousand taka to Al Hera General Hospital under section 40 of the crime of taking extra money from the patient, watermelon price list 30,000 BDTs in Ajmeri Bhandar for the offense of non-display under Section 38, and in exchange for the price paid.

Arshibad Oil Mill has been fined Tk 20,000 under section 45 for not properly delivering the promised product in return for the price paid.

Apart from this, farmers are warned not to sell watermelons at high prices. Apart from warning the dubbing traders in Kalibazar Charagope, every fruit vendor has been directed to display the daily price list in a visible place. He said that this campaign will continue throughout the month of Ramadan.
