Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Apple Mahmud of the Tourist Police in the Cox's Bazar region has been honored with a special award by the Hridoye 71 Cultural Council and the Bangladesh Combined Cultural Society for his exceptional contributions to the tourism sector. 

This prestigious accolade was bestowed upon Additional DIG Apple Mahmud during a splendid ceremony held at the Hotel Ornate Hall of Bijaynagar in Dhaka last Wednesday.

The recipient of numerous accolades including the Mahatma Gandhi International Peace Award, Joy Bangla Youth Award, National Journalist Association Award, Green Leaf Best Performance Award, and the Human Rights Peace Medal 2023 from the Bangladesh Combined Cultural Society, Additional DIG Apple Mahmud's dedication to enhancing the tourism sector is widely recognized.

Cox's Bazar, renowned for being home to the world's longest beach, stands as Bangladesh's premier tourist destination. Drawing millions of visitors annually, the region has witnessed a significant boost in tourism. To ensure the safety and security of tourists, the Bangladesh Tourist Police plays a crucial role in safeguarding key tourist spots across the country.

Under the leadership of Additional DIG Apple Mahmud, the Cox's Bazar tourism zone has experienced a notable decline in criminal activities. Through diligent efforts, criminal strongholds have been dismantled, leading to a safer environment for tourists. Measures have been implemented to combat various criminal activities, including illegal syndicates operating on the beaches, juvenile gangs, robberies, and harassment of marginalized groups.
Additional DIG Apple Mahmud's proactive approach has resulted in the apprehension of members involved in criminal syndicates, such as the Hotel Motel Zone robbery syndicate. Furthermore, efforts have been made to address anti-social activities, including the closure of clandestine prostitution establishments disguised as legitimate businesses.

Expressing his commitment to ensuring tourist safety, Additional DIG Apple Mahmud emphasized the Tourist Police's dedication to creating a crime-free environment in Cox's Bazar. Undeterred by challenges, he reiterated his determination to continue the ongoing campaign aimed at preserving the region's reputation as a safe and welcoming destination for visitors.
