Armed criminals looted cash from the vaults of Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank in Bandarban's Thanchi upazila on Wedneday (3 April).
The robbery took place in the upazila's Thanchi Bazar area around 12:30pm.
According to the witness, the robbers left the banks and the area less than 10 minutes after they stormed the branches.
The robbers took the weapons of the security personnel, then they made employees open the vault and took off with the cash.
The robbers also fired rounds inside the branches.
Previous night, armed criminals stormed Bandarban's Ruma upazila parishad complex, disarmed security personnel and took their firearms, robbed the the Sonali Bank branch there, they also abducted bank manager Nezam Uddin.
