The 8-kilometer Juldha-Dangarcha road in Karnaphuli Upazila has transformed into a patchwork of small and large potholes, plunging commuters into distress. The stretch has devolved into a dusty nightmare, inflicting extreme inconvenience on locals navigating the area.
Spanning from the Shahmirpur shrine gate to the Juldha pipe and further to Dangarchar, the roadway has languished in disrepair for years, evident in the multitude of potholes hindering smooth vehicular movement. Puddles of water dot the surface, exacerbating the already hazardous conditions, with surrounding areas cloaked in dust clouds as vehicles swerve to avoid the deteriorating road.
The pervasive dust not only jeopardizes public health and safety but also pollutes the natural air, veiling Juldha-Dangarchar in a toxic shroud. The escalating agony and health risks faced by residents amplify with each passing day, exacerbated by the road's transformation into mud post-rain and dust under the sun.
Expressing their plight, residents like Alamgir lament the enduring torment caused by the road's dilapidation, underscoring the urgent need for repairs to alleviate their suffering. Businesses, schools, and agricultural lands lining the road suffer losses due to the dust, with tree leaves tinged red from the persistent pollution.
Local CNG driver Sekander underscores the treacherous driving conditions, while pedestrians like Md Mannan struggle through the darkened pathways obscured by dust. Shopkeepers find their operations paralyzed by the pervasive dust, echoing the community's plea for road rehabilitation to restore normalcy.
Although Juldha Union Parishad Chairman Nurul Haque refrains from comment, Upazila Engineer Md. Jahedul Alam assures that a tender for five kilometers of the road has been approved, with repair work slated to commence imminently.
In the face of mounting adversity, local demands for road refurbishment intensify, underscoring the imperative to alleviate the community from the perils of the deteriorating Juldha-Dangarcha road.
