In Cox's Bazar, Teknaf, the butchers were accused of selling beef at Tk 800 to Tk 900 per kg. On other days, beef is sold at Tk 650 to Tk 700 per kg, but  is being sold at Tk 800 to Tk 900 on Shabbat.

It is said that many people returned home after hearing the price of meat because they could not afford to buy meat. As time goes on, the number of customers also increases. You have to stand in line. If you want to buy meat, the butchers say that the price is 800 taka, if you buy it, it is 1000 taka!

On Saturday (April 6), the same picture was seen in the meat market in various unions of the upazila including Teknaf Municipality.

A customer of Hnila named Sohel Rana Bappi said, I bought beef from Abu Chiddik's shop for 800 rupees. The price is beyond the reach of the poor.

Complaints of the common people, the butchers got the opportunity to sell meat at such a high price due to the indifference of the upazila administration. Complaints have been raised that consumer rights or upazila executive officers are not monitoring the Teknaf meat market properly.

A few people standing in front of the Hnila meat shop said that meat is being sold at a high price since morning. There is no surveillance in the meat market. The minimum is 800 taka, but depending on the type, they take 1000 taka. Informed circles commented that the butchers are charging higher prices for meat especially due to the demand of Rohingyas.

Lecturer of Cox's Bazar City College and local citizen Ehsan Uddin said, yesterday we wanted to buy cows but because of the syndicate we did not want to sell our cows. Selling meat for 600 rupees is not a matter. Stating that there is no supervision of the administration in the market, he said, if the administration supervises, the price would have come down, but there is no interference of the administration in the market.

Meanwhile, many people have written on the social media Facebook asking for the administration's intervention as the prices are high in the meat market. However, these administrations did not notice.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Adnan Chowdhury's mobile phone was called several times, but no statement was received.
