Lawachara Park : Tourist influx boosts revenue

Lawachara National Park in Moulvibazar has witnessed a significant surge in tourist footfall, with over 11,000 visitors arriving at the park from Eid day until Sunday noon. 

This influx has resulted in a revenue generation of Tk 5 lakh 44 thousand 787. The park also welcomed 6 foreign tourists during this period. It is estimated that approximately 20,000 tourists have visited Srimangal, collectively with other tourist spots in the area.

Shahidul Islam, the Wildlife Ranger of the Srimangal Office of Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department, responsible for biodiversity conservation in Lawachara, reported that on the day of Eid, 3,500 and 33 tourists entered the park, including 1 foreign tourist. The revenue collected on that day amounted to Tk 1 lakh 45 thousand 869. The following day, 2,461 tourists visited, among which there were 5 foreigners, contributing to a revenue of Tk 1 lakh 23 thousand 986. On the third day, the number of tourists increased to 3,334, with a revenue of Tk 1 lakh 60 thousand 184. The fourth day saw 2,360 visitors, generating Tk 1 lakh 14 thousand 748 in revenue. The arrival of tourists at Lawachara continued on Monday, the fifth day of Eid.

The tea gardens, currently in full bloom, have been a major draw for tourists. Visitors were seen exploring the gardens, taking selfies, and enjoying the scenic beauty of the budding tea leaves.

The Srimangal Wildlife Service Foundation experienced a high turnout of visitors from various backgrounds, including children. The children were particularly excited to observe the diverse wildlife and animals on display. Many visitors, including women and children, flocked to Baikka Bill, a fish sanctuary and bird sanctuary located 18 km from Srimangal town.

Khasiapunji and Magurchhara Khasiapunji also saw a rush of visitors, with many exploring the lifestyle and culture of the indigenous populations residing in the area.

To ensure the safety of tourists, the Srimangal Tourism Police have deployed officers at every tourist spot. Additionally, Mobile Teams of the Tourism Police are actively working to maintain security.
