Bumper Boro harvest in haor areas of Sunamganj has brought happiness among the marginal farmers. For farmers like Karim Mia from Shanghai Haor, these crops aren't just a source of income; they are the embodiment of dreams for a better life. With a family to support, including a wife and five children, Karim's hopes rest on the success of his seven bigha land. This year, his dreams have finally come to fruition.

Despite labor shortages, Karim toiled tirelessly to nurture his crops, and his efforts were rewarded with a bumper harvest. As he brought home the golden rice, a smile adorned his face, knowing that his family's sustenance for the year lay before him. And Karim isn't alone in his fortune; the entire Shantiganj upazila has witnessed a bountiful harvest, bringing relief and joy to farmer families across the region.

Since the advent of Pahela Baishakh, farmers have been engrossed in the arduous tasks of cutting, threshing, and harvesting boro paddy under the scorching sun. Their relentless efforts are fueled by the fear of adverse weather conditions, yet they press on, driven by the prospect of a fruitful yield. The satisfaction of bringing home the fruits of their labor, the rice they've dreamt of all year, is unparalleled.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Department, extensive cultivation across Shantiganj has resulted in a projected rice yield of 95 thousand metric tons, valued at over 380 crore rupees. The allure of new rice varieties has captivated Haor farmers, further fueling their interest as production surges. With nearly 90 percent of the harvest completed in Haor, the Agriculture Department anticipates reaching full completion within the week.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Khandkar Sohail Ahmed attributes this year's bumper crop to favorable weather conditions, bringing relief to farmers and ensuring a smooth harvesting process. With optimism abound, he predicts that rice production will surpass targets, laying the foundation for a prosperous year ahead.

For farmers like Karim Mia and countless others in the Sunamganj region, the success of the boro harvest isn't just measured in yields; it's a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the realization of dreams.
