A truck driver was killed inside the moving truck in Chairman Ghata area of Bhatiari union under Sitakunda upazila of the district on Saturday (4 May).
The deceased was identified as Abdul Mannan, 60, hailed from Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla district.
Police said the accident occurred when a running truck hit a motorcycle and a private car next to it in the area around 2 pm as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the driver dead and injuring three students who are on board the private car on the spot.
Being informed, the highway police recovered the body and the wounded students and sent them to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baroaulia Highway thana Khokon Chandra Ghosh told the media that the driver of the moving truck lost control over its steering and rammed the nearby vehicles.
"Passengers in the car received minor injuries," the OC said, adding that police seized the vehicles.
