The fire in Amarbunia area of Chandpai range of Sundarban East Forest Division of Bagerhat has not yet been brought under control.
On Saturday (May 4) afternoon, a fire was reported at Latif's Chila in Sundarbans. On receiving the information, two units of fire service including Sundarban East Forest Division Officer, Forest Guard, Morelganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Morelganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police reached Amarbunia area.
However, as it was evening, the fire service personnel could not reach the spot with fire fighting machines and equipment. The work of extinguishing the fire has not started. The fire service will start extinguishing the fire tomorrow morning. As a result, the Sundarbans will burn overnight.
