An intellectually challenged 15-year-old girl was killed in Satkhira's Sadar Upazila on Saturday morning, following a dispute over playing music.

RAB-6 Commander Md. Faisal Tanvir confirmed the matter.

The victim, identified as Chumki, was walking down the street around 9:30 am with music playing from a speaker when an enraged neighbour, Elias, 27, attacked her with a hammer.

The incident occurred in the Thana Ghat area of Labsha union, leaving Chumki dead on the spot due to severe head injury.

Elias, the son of Ikramul Hossain, was reportedly upset by the noise. Following the attack, locals detained him and handed him over to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Prior to his arrest, Elias was beaten by an angry mob.

RAB has detained five individuals in connection with the incident, including Elias's parents and others. Satkhira Sadar Hospital's on-duty physician, Dr. Mamataz Mujid, confirmed that Chumki was brought in dead with head trauma.

Several people are being questioned, and further details will be revealed after investigation, said the RAB official.

Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, added that Elias, a known drug addict, was provoked by the loud music.
