Authorities have collected a staggering 29 sacks of money from 11 donation boxes at the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj. The donation boxes, last opened three months and 11 days ago, were unlocked at 7 am on Saturday in the presence of Fouzia Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj and president of the mosque's managing committee, along with Superintendent of Police Hasan Chowdhury.

A 400-member team, including the mosque's managing committee, students, and teachers from the Pagla Mosque Madrasa, is currently counting the money. Additional Deputy Commissioner Rubel Mahmud, Additional District Magistrate Mizab Rahmat and Rupali Bank Assistant General Manager Rafiqul Islam were in the counting process.

In the previous collection on August 17, nine donation boxes yielded Tk 7.22 crore, along with substantial amounts of foreign currency and gold ornaments. The donations are used for a range of purposes, including supporting mosques, madrasas, orphanages, and various social welfare initiatives.

The mosque authorities have also announced plans to construct an international-standard Islamic complex named the 'Pagla Mosque Islamic Complex.' The project, with an estimated cost of Tk 115 crore, is set to begin soon and will accommodate 30,000 worshippers at a time.
