Khorshed Alam, a resident of Raipur in Lakshmipur, played a vital role in the Great Liberation War of Bangladesh. At the age of around 20, he was deeply inspired by the historic speech delivered by the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on March 7th.

On March 15, 1971, Khorshed Alam journeyed to the Halishahar EPR camp in Chattogram, where his father, Subedar Major Lonimia Dewan (Beer Pratik), was stationed.

His elder brother, Mohammad Alam, was a student at Chittagong City College. After a brief stay, he returned to Raipur in Laxmipur.

Subsequently, on May 13, 1971, he crossed the Shuvopur border of Feni district and entered India. There, he received training in pistol handling, grenade throwing, and other military strategies at the Srinagar Training Centre.

Khorshed Alam then travelled to the Ampinagar Training Centre, where he acquired further skills, including operating a twin pea, grenade, and three-shot pistol. After about a month, he proceeded to the Melaghar Training Centre in India to continue his intensive training.

Upon his return to Bangladesh, Khorshed Alam actively participated in guerrilla attacks. His first operation took place in the Tankir Haat area of Ramganj, Lakshmipur. Subsequently, he engaged in numerous battles, conducted operations, and launched daring attacks on Pakistani forces in the Ramganj-Raipur region. Due to the relentless resistance put forth by the freedom fighters, the invading troops were compelled to evacuate Raipur on December 3, 1971.

On December 4, 1971, the brave freedom fighter, along with other freedom fighters, ambushed the EPR soldiers, leading to their retreat from Lakshmipur.

Khorshed Alam's unwavering dedication and courageous actions played a significant role in the liberation of his homeland. His valour and sacrifices will forever be remembered as symbols of the indomitable spirit of Bangladesh's struggle for independence.
