Raipur water development board and district commissioner have taken action to stop illegal sand extraction at Sinher Pool in Charpata Union after reports of unauthorized dredger mining along the regional highway surfaced. The District Commissioner, Md. Anwar Hossain Akand, received appreciation from local residents for addressing the issue promptly.

The news of the illegal dredger mining was initially published on Monday (May 29) by "The Daily Messenger," a popular national English newspaper. The publication sparked widespread discussions and criticism throughout the district, with local residents sharing the news on social media platforms like Facebook, demanding an end to the illicit dredging activities.

Upon learning of the matter, the District Commissioner and Water Development Board took immediate action to halt the dredger operations. The swift response from the authorities was lauded by the people, who expressed their gratitude to Anwar Hoshain Akand and the Water Development Board for saving their road.

Shakeel, Deputy Assistant Engineer (SO) of the Laxmipur Water Development Board, stated that they became aware of the illegal dredger activities through the media reports. An investigation is currently underway, and senior officers will oversee the matter to ensure appropriate action is taken.
