Bhorer Sathi, a voluntary organisation, has become a beacon of health and unity in Thakurgaon by promoting regular exercise for people of all ages. Originally started by a few individuals in 2014, the organization has now grown into a sizable community with over 150 members. Every day after the Fajr prayer, participants gather in the expansive field of Government Boys High School to engage in various physical exercises to improve their overall well-being.

The group's morning exercise routine attracts members from diverse backgrounds, including public and private employees, NGO workers, teachers, businessmen, doctors, and students. United in their pursuit of better health, participants perform approximately 30 to 40 exercises that cater to individual needs and preferences. Notably, one member leads the exercises with a long breath, and others follow suit, creating a sense of camaraderie and motivation.

According to Md. Rasheduzzaman Malay, a dedicated member of Bhorer Sathi, regular exercise has proven to be a game-changer for many participants. "We always come to the field in the morning and exercise regularly," he stated. "We have witnessed improvements in various physical ailments, thanks to our regular exercise routine."

The organization's general secretary, Engineer Belal Hossain, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the positive impact of daily exercise extends beyond physical health. "Many of us have experienced a reduction in body ailments due to our exercise routine. Moreover, after participating in the morning exercise, our whole day becomes much better."

Abu Bakr Siddique, the president of Bhorer Sathi and the principal of Government Women's College, highlighted the organization's altruistic mission. "We formed this organization with just a few individuals in 2014. However, our membership has steadily increased over time," he shared. "Our goal is to promote physical well-being, especially for middle-aged and elderly individuals who suffer from various health issues, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, rheumatism, and asthma."

Dr. Naeem Minhaj Kaushik, medical officer of the 250-bed general hospital, praised the efforts of Bhorer Sathi in their pursuit of better health. "Regular exercise for people suffering from various diseases can significantly reduce their risk of these ailments," he stated. "Such a positive initiative deserves commendation from all."

Apart from their dedication to promoting health, Bhorer Sathi is also involved in various social and developmental activities, exemplifying their commitment to the betterment of the community. From distributing winter clothes to providing medical assistance, the organization has taken on a multifaceted role in addressing social and cultural needs.

Over the years, Bhorer Sathi has proven that small beginnings can lead to significant impacts. From a handful of members, they have grown into a thriving community of health enthusiasts, fostering unity and resilience in Thakurgaon. As they continue to advocate for regular exercise and community engagement, their efforts serve as an inspiration for others to prioritize their well-being and contribute to the betterment of society.
