Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur is set to woo an increased number of visitors as several animal species, including zebras and nilgai, have welcomed new members to their families in recent days. The arrival of new animal cubs has tremendously boosted the prospects of a greater number of tourists’ visit.

The animals gave births to the cubs a few days ago, but the park authorities chose to keep the details confidential for the greater interest of safety of the cubs.

However, the park authorities on Tuesday officially confirmed the birth of the cubs. Among the new arrivals are zebras, common elands, and Nilgai.

The zebra family at the Safari Park in Gazipur has expanded with the arrival of two new cubs. The park now houses a total of 29 zebras, including 16 males and 13 females. The cubs were born on September 5 and September 13 and are reported to be healthy.

A new common eland cub was born in the park on August 9. These African animals typically keep their cubs hidden under bushes for safety shortly after birth. When the cubs learn to walk, they venture out with their mothers. The common eland is an African antelope species known for their herbivorous diet. The park introduced a male and a female common eland in 2015, and this is the second time the family has welcomed a cub.

Nilgai, an animal that disappeared from the wild in Bangladesh about 80 years ago, has been reintroduced in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park. On October 7, a female Nilgai gave birth to two cubs. This marks the second time Nilgai has successfully given birth in the park, with the first occurrence in August 2021. With the latest additions, the Nilgai family at the park now consists of eight members.

Officials from the park have emphasized the importance of providing a favorable environment and proper care for the animals, leading to regular births of various species in the park. Special care is given to each animal cub after birth, including specialized nutrition for both the mother and the cubs.

The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park has become a popular entertainment destination for visitors, housing a diverse collection of domestic and foreign animals. The park has successfully managed its zebra population, overcoming previous challenges and losses.
