Attack on ex-justice Manik: 50 BNP men sued  

A case has been filed against 50 unidentified BNP men in connection with the attack on former Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik. The justice's gunman Md Rafiqul Islam lodged the case against the BNP men at Paltan police station around 11.15pm on Wednesday, said Salahuddin Miah, officer-in-charge of the police station.

The case was filed for carrying out attack on former justice Manik, his driver, gunman and vandalising his car, the OC said. The accused will be arrested after scrutinising the CCTV footages, he said. According to the caste statement, the attack was made from a procession of the BNP in Nayapaltan area on Wednesday afternoon.

The retired Supreme Court Justice came under attack on this way to attend a TV talk show. The incident occurred around 4:15 pm when he was crossing Nayapaltan area near Rajarbagh Central police Hospital, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-Motijheel) of DMP Enamul Haque Mithu.

Sampriti Bangladesh, a citizens' platform, in a joint statement on Wednesday, condemned the attack on the former justice and demanded an exemplary punishment of the attackers.
