Every year, many students lose their motivation to continue study for not being able to get admission in good quality educational institutions despite good results in SSC and equivalent exams. Many students get frustrated not being able to get admission in their preferred educational institutions. This affects their HSC results, and even higher education.

For those who have secured good results in SSC and equivalent exams, getting admission in good quality educational institutions has become a challenge for them. Because there are few quality educational institutions in the country.

It is known that the number of colleges considered as standard in the country is more than two hundred. There are around 1 lakh seats in these educational institutions. In terms of admission, students are more interested in these colleges. Talented students are interested in the famous colleges of the capital. There are 25 to 30 quality colleges in Dhaka. Basically, there is intense competition for admission in these colleges. This time also the same trend is observed.

This time more than 16 lakh 72 thousand students have passed the SSC and equivalent exams. Out of this 1 lakh 82 thousand 132 students got GPA-5. There are about 25 lakh seats available in higher secondary schools across the country. The overall performance of the educational institutions which receive 50 percent of students against the sanctioned seats at the higher secondary level needs to be looked into.

In order to keep pace with the modern world, effective steps must be taken to solve the infrastructure problems of all levels of educational institutions. It is necessary to ensure the provision of adequate educational equipment including standard laboratories, libraries, playgrounds in educational institutions. Besides, there is a need to appoint competent teachers in all levels of educational institutions.

Either way, the number of quality educational institutions in the country should be increased. Before taking a sweeping decision against zero pass institutions, it should be looked into how to improve the quality of education in the institutions. If the educational institutions of our country lag behind the international standards, then it will be difficult to face the challenges of the future with the quality manpower that will be created in these institutions. Adequate investment should be made to achieve the goals of education. At the same time maximum utilization of invested money should be ensured. In this case it may be difficult to achieve the desired goal without concerted efforts of all concerned.
