We welcome the government decision to revert to the original office timing from 9am to 5pm to bring back normalcy in the country. Citizens from every walk of life will hail the decision as a major step towards establishing peace and harmony in society. The unwanted disruption in the normal office work has already proved to be costly for us. From education to business to diplomacy, we have been out of touch with the rest of the world and it has been proved once again that nothing can flourish in confinement.
Service holders have been waiting eagerly for this important administrative announcement since normal working hours have been cut short to avoid untoward incidents. They have been requesting for starting offices normally and it is now expected that office-goers will reach office in time and give their best to recover the losses. It is also the government’s responsibility to ensure safe commuting of them on the roads.
It is worth mentioning that the loss of one-man hour accumulates to many vital hours if we multiply with the total number of employees. When such losses occur, it proves to be a big burden for the nation. Loss of working hours also means substantial financial loss for a developing country like Bangladesh. The result of suspension of work proved to be damaging in the sea ports and the garment sector.
We at the same time welcome the decision to allow all social networks to function normally from Wednesday. It would now facilitate all net based businesses to operate like before. Keeping shut the normal flow of information only creates scopes for misinformation to find abnormal avenues. People also need such networks to keep in touch with one another across the world.
We hope responsible citizens will use these networks judiciously from now on and avoid spreading rumors that may turn out to be harmful for the nation in the long run.
A country can only progress and reach the goal through hard work of its citizens in every sector. Each person’s contribution, small or big, matters in the holistic national development.
