Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have announced the date for the dean's election of various faculties. The election will be held on 15 May. Abu Hasan, Registrar and Returning Officer of this election, signed a notice on Sunday (April 21) providing this information.
The notice states, "According to Section 26(5) of the Jahangirnagar University Act 1973 and relevant provisions of election regulations, ordinances, and rules, the dean's election will be conducted."
It further elaborates, "The temporary voter list for the election will be published on April 22, objections regarding the temporary voter list will be accepted until 2 pm on April 24, and the final voter list will be published on April 25. Approved forms of approval letters will be submitted to the Returning Officer by 2 pm on April 29. Approval letters will be selected on April 30, a valid candidates' list will be published on May 2, and withdrawals can be made until 2 pm on May 6. The final candidate list will be published on May 7, and the election will be held on May 15 from 9 am to 2 pm."
Jahangirnagar University has six faculties including Arts and Humanities, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Business Studies and Law. The last dean election was held on May 10, 2016.
