Twelve students of Comilla University have entitled advocateship from Bangladesh Bar Council, the highest professional body of lawyers in the country.
They have passed the Bangladesh Bar Council Enrollment Examination and obtained ‘Advocateship’. All of them are the first batch of student at the Department of Law.
Kamal Hossain Joy, one of them confirmed it to the university correspondent.
The others are Mohammad Mamun, Mithun Khan, Riaz Uddin, Ismail Hossain, Fatema Akhtar, Sabri Saberin Ghalib, Arif Ahmed, Abdul Hannan, Moshiur Rahman, Burhan Uddin and Rifat Hossain.
Kamal Hossain Joy said, ‘We are the 10th batch of Comilla University but the first batch of students at the law department. So our university life was a matter of challenging also. The teachers were also new. Meanwhile we didn't have any seniors in our department. So we had to go through more challenge. Our teachers had worked hard for us.’
Chairman (Acting) of the department of Law, Md. Abu Bakar Siddique said, ‘Indeed, this is a great achievement. The fact that 12 of our students have finally attained the Advocateship is a great achievement for the Law Department of Comilla University. We want our other students to follow their way. Hope, the department will be more sincere to continue such successful trend in future.’
