A two-day international conference titled 'Role of Science and Technology in Fourth Industrial Revolution' is going to be held at Rajshahi University (RU) on October 5 and 6. The science faculty of the university is organizing this conference for the first time. This information was announced in a press release held at the science faculty meeting room on Thursday (September 14).
The organizers said that this conference is being organized with various objectives in mind, including building relationships between academicians and industrialists for the exchange of knowledge and skills on the 4th Industrial Revolution and recommending policies to facilitate the transfer of technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution to help achieve the SDG targets.
The State Minister for Planning will inaugurate the conference at the university's Senate building on October 5. Shamsul Alam Professor Gurmeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, India. Yuichi Hurley Ichihashi, President and CEO of One Reach International, Japan, along with researchers and teachers from USA, India, Japan, Malaysia and Nepal will be key note speakers in the conference.
As the plenary speaker will be the head professor of physics department of Kharagpur IIT, India. P.K. Datta and Head Professor of Chemistry Department jayakrisna along with Researchers and teachers from various universities India and Bangladesh.
Poster submission deadline for paper presentation at the conference is September 15, paper acceptance notification by September 20 and registration deadline is September 30. The registration fee for domestic academicians is 3 thousand taka, 150 dollars for academicians from SAARC countries and 100 dollars for academicians from other countries. 1500 for domestic students, 75 dollars for students from SAARC countries and 100 dollars for students from other countries.
In the press conference, convener of the conference organizing committee and dean of the faculty, Professor Shahed Zaman said that the science faculty is going to organize an international conference for the first time. It was a demand of our teachers and students for a long time. It is repeatedly said by the university administration that in order to improve the academic activities, the field of research should be improved and the results of the research should be communicated to everyone. Also, the ranking of the university can be improved.
He also said that many foreigners are hesitant to join our conference as there are elections in the next few months. Still we are hopeful that the attendance will be sufficient for the first time.
Prof. Nasima Akhter, convener of the sub-committee on promotion of the organizing committee and president of the mathematics department, gave a speech. The press conference moderated by the member secretary of the conference organizing committee, Prof. Ashraful Islam Khan.
Chemistry Department Professor Nazrul Islam, Mathematics Department Professor Sajuar Raihan and Associate Professor Md. Rabiul Haque, Professor of Biochemistry and Microbiology Department A.K.M. Asaduzzaman and Prof. Sohail Hasan. They are all members of the sub-committee on publicity.
