Bailey Road, renowned for its ambiance of love, camaraderie, and culinary delights, witnessed a horrifying turn of events on Thursday night (February 29). What commenced as an ordinary night for many ended in tragedy as flames engulfed a multi-storey building, leaving devastation in its wake.

Around 10:45 pm, a massive fire erupted, claiming the lives of at least 46 individuals and leaving over 22 injured. Medical professionals fear that the casualty count may escalate further.

The nation mourns this heart-wrenching incident, and the entertainment industry is not untouched by the profound sadness it has evoked. Numerous celebrities have come forward to express their condolences and call for a thorough investigation and justice.

Popular Dhallywood star, Shakib Khan, said, “The Bailey Road inferno on the night of February 29 shattered the lives of many who had gathered there, perhaps seeking moments of joy with their loved ones. In an instant, countless lives were snuffed out, leaving behind a trail of devastation. Such recurring tragedies demand a comprehensive enquiry. I extend my heartfelt tribute to the firefighters who valiantly confront these calamities, often risking their own lives. My prayers are with the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured, and I hope for strength for the bereaved families to endure this loss.”

Actor Chanchal Chowdhury, overwhelmed with emotion, found himself at a loss for words, while Actor Ziaul Faruk Apurba conveyed his condolences to the victims and their families, praying for their strength.

Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury solemnly shared the names of those who perished, accompanied by prayers for their eternal peace.

Small screen star Tawsif Mahbub expressed his dismay, saying, “The vibrant Bailey Road now lies in ashes! From the footage, it appears the fire originated on the ground floor, not at Kachchi Bhai's.”

Actress Ashna Habib Bhabna poignantly reflected on the lives lost, emphasising their profound impact on their loved ones.

Film actress Zahara Mitu issued a sombre call to action, cautioning against complacency in the face of potential tragedies. She urged for improved fire safety measures and heightened awareness among building owners, underscoring the urgency of preparedness.
