Celebrated filmmaker Giasuddin Selim has made the movie 'Kajol Rekha' based on a 400-year-old story. In this film, popular model and actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila has portrayed a negative character for the first time, playing the role of Konkon Dashi.

Released during Eid, 'Kajol Rekha' has struck a special chord with audiences who are discovering the heritage of Bengal through the film's storyline, locations, costumes, and songs. The actors' flawless performances in each character have also resonated well with viewers, leading to growing appreciation for the movie over time and attracting larger audiences.

A special screening of 'Kajol Rekha' took place at Star Cineplex in the capital’s Bashundhara Shopping Complex on April 25, attended by the veteran actress Suborna Mustafa. Impressed by the film, she praised it on her Facebook, particularly commending Mithila for becoming “an outstanding actress.” Mithila expressed her sincere gratitude towards Suborna Mustafa's appreciation.

After returning to Dhaka on the night of April 26 from an official trip to Canada, Mithila has been preoccupied with work commitments. Today marks the birthday of her daughter Aira, prompting special celebrations.

Additionally, Mithila revealed that she has four more films awaiting release in both Bengals. In Bangladesh, these include ‘Jole Jole Tara’ directed by Arun Chowdhury and ‘Nuliachorir Sonar Pahar’ by Lubna Sharmin. In West Bengal, she awaits the release of Arnab Midda's ‘Meghla’ where she plays the lead role, and Dulal Dey's 'Aranya Prachin Probad’.

Commenting on the overwhelming response to 'Kajol Rekha' and her upcoming releases, Mithila said, “The unprecedented response I have received for 'Kajol Rekha' since its release is truly beyond my expectations. I had apprehensions about portraying a negative character for the first time, but the love and appreciation I am receiving is truly overwhelming.”

The actress added, “As for the four films awaiting release, I am hopeful, especially for 'Meghla' where I play the lead role. The stories and production quality of all these films are exceptional.”
