Remembering ‘Nayak Raj’ on 6th death anniversary

‘Nayak (Hero),’ the most fitting term or adjective for any Bangladeshi actor, belongs to the late legendary actor Razzak without any doubt and debate. As he was the one among the heroes in and after his time who reigned over Bangladesh's cinema the most, the editor of the magazine Chitrali, Ahmad Zaman Chowdhury, bestowed the adjective 'Nayak Raj' (King of Heroes) before the name of his friend Razzak. And since then, actor Razzak, the best hero of Bangladesh, has been referred to as Nayak Raj Razzak.

Actor Razzak passed away on August 21, 2017. He left the world, making the people of the film industry and movie lovers in Bangladesh shed tears. On the sixth anniversary of ‘Nayak Raj's passing, his family arranged a special event, as they have done each time.

Khalid Hossain Samrat, the actor’s beloved son, said, "On the anniversary of my father's passing, as is customary, I visit his grave after the Fajr prayers and offer dua. In the capital's Uttara, Rajlokkhi Complex has a mosque built by my father himself. He had personally appointed an Imam. Milad and dua after Asr prayers are organised there.”

“Simultaneously, Milad and prayers are also arranged at home, and basically, we the family members will remain there. At noon, my mother will personally serve meals to underprivileged orphans and guests. I request everyone to pray for my father, that may almighty Allah grant him Jannat,” Samrat added.

On the other hand, Channel i will telecast a special episode of its regular celebrity show ‘Taroka Kathon’ in remembrance of Nayak Raj. Ananya Ruma, the producer of the show, informed that Razzak’s co-artistes from films and tele-dramas will recall fond memories of the actor by participating in the show.

Known by his screen name Razzak, celebrated actor and film director Abdur Razzak (23 January 1942 – 21 August 2017) is considered one of the greatest actors in the Bangladeshi film industry.

Razzak won the National Film Award for Best Actor five times for his roles in the films. He was awarded the Independence Day Award in 2015. He acted in more than 300 Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali and Urdu films and also directed 16 films.

Some of his most memorable films include ‘Rongbaaz’, ‘Ora Egaro Jon’, ‘Nil Akasher Niche’, ‘Moina Moti’, ‘Abirbhab’, and ‘Abujh Mon’, among others.
