The much-anticipated last film of the esteemed actor Manna, titled ‘Jibon Jontrona,’ directed by Jahid Hasan, is gearing up for release on December 15 this year after 14 years of his demise, according to producer Khorshed Alam Khoshru.
Alongside Manna, the glamorous cast includes Moushumi, Popy, Syeda Shahnoor, Mukti, Prarthana Fardin Dighi, Bapparaj, Aliraj, Anwara Begum, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Misha Sawdagar, among others.
The plot of the story revolves around a group of sex workers during the Liberation War who bravely took a stand for Bangladesh's independence, offering a unique perspective on this significant period in the nation's history.
Khoshru expressed his intention to release the film on December 15, aligning with the special occasion of the Liberation War. He said, “I acknowledged the various challenges that delayed the movie's release, including objections from the Censor Board regarding the film's title, complications, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, I am committed to sharing the film with Manna's devoted fan base and the wider audience who eagerly await its release.”
Notably, the film was submitted to the censor board in 2011 but received clearance a decade later in 2021. The film faced an unfortunate setback as Manna was unable to complete the final scene and dubbing work before his untimely passing. To overcome this challenge, the film's team inventively used dummies to stage Manna's character in a martyrdom scene, with actor Ratin assisting in the dubbing process.
