German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called an arson attack that resulted in Tesla's Gruenheide manufacturing plant halting production for several days a "terrorist act."

"As for the attack, I consider it the same way as the federal government does - it was a terrorist act," Scholz told.

The leader called for the expansion of the Tesla plant operation in Germany, saying that the police and security forces should do everything necessary to identify those responsible for the arson and punish the perpetrators, as cited by the newspaper.

On March 5, a power disruption and halt in production occurred at the Tesla Gigafactory near Berlin after a suspected arson attack on an electricity pylon nearby. Germany's far-left activists from the Vulkangruppe (Volcano Group) reportedly claimed responsibility for the arson.

The newly built Tesla plant has been repeatedly targeted by environmental activists over expansion plans that involve cutting down more than 100 hectares (247 acres) of forest.
